Remember those jars filled with colorful, irresistible candies at your grandma’s place? Yeah, those used to be my best friends, my daily dose of gleeful delight. However, as I’ve grown, I’ve realized that my once harmless, delightful treats had a dark side, and no, I’m not talking about calories or teeth cavities.

How Sugar Impacts our Health

When our body processes sugar, it breaks down into glucose and fructose. While glucose is essential for us, fructose can only be processed by our liver. Now here’s the kicker, when our liver gets overloaded with fructose, it can result in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, according to this study from The Journal of Hepatology.
